Size Matters

Yesterday I was driving in circles for 15 minutes looking for an open parking space in a crowded parking ramp. A few of the spaces were labeled with a sign that read "Compact Only"...as a driver of a VW Golf, I always look to these spots, because besides a Mini Cooper and Geo Metro, you can't get more compact than a Golf. As I was looking in the "Compact Only" spots--to my astonishment--a white Yukon XL SUV had wedged itself into one of these "compact only" labeled spots, with the back end sticking way out and taking up an entire other parking space next to it...I was shaking my fist in frustration as I noticed further down the row there was a black Hummer H2 parked in another "compact only" space!! Are they kidding? Seriously now folks--A HUMMER IS NOT A COMPACT CAR!

I think the phrase "compact only" is a challenge to those folks who think that owning SUVs are right up there with constitutional guarantees to life, liberty, etc. The only hope is that by owning and driving these Stupid Useless Vehicles their wallets become more compact sooner than the rest of ours leaving us more $$ to take vacations to countries where gas is about $6.00/gallon and the future is now..

more later.
blog on!

It continues! Last night in the parking lot of our apartment Val spotted a large truck in a "compact only" spot...we decided the only thing left to do was to leave an anonymous note

I know! I know! I couldn't agree more! And let me guess - the SUV and the Hummer had "Support Our Troops" stickers too - but I won't get started on that...
Have a great adventure with Whitey, Lizz. And good luck hauling all the stuff down there. Jill
